A wintery white from the Douro, this a very pleasant wine at a very reasonable price (around 10€). Try to check out the red Reserva from CARM as well as it is also has a good price/quality ratio.
Tropical fruit and lemons on the nose, vanilla and buttery notes also appear and all is pervaded by a strong mineral influence. Sometimes a faint scent of coconuts joined the set. A very distinct and sober bouquet.
The oak reveals itself even further on the mouth, where it grants a very good structure to the wine, rendering it unctuous and full-bodied. A very crisp, citrus acidity helps balance things and keep the taste interesting. I found this to be quite sober on fruit in the palate, relying more on toast, hazelnuts and other oak-influenced tastes. Good, lengthy persistence wraps it up.
