Region: Alentejo
Country: Portugal
Showing a beautiful golden color, this Alentejo white has an exuberant, expressive nose with a strong vanilla scent, along with sweet, ripe tropical fruit and a citrus background that gives the whole set a distinct freshness, even though the oak plays a strong part here.
In the mouth, it shows itself as a strong, serious, full-bodied wine, creamy and complex due to the strong oak notes. Even so, the freshness and acidity of the tropical fruit still shine through, guaranteeing a fresh and balanced taste.
The aftertaste is long and persistent, again marked by quality oak contrasting with the acidity. A good winter white.
Pair it with stronger, creamier dishes for a beautiful complement. I paired it with a smoked salmon and lemon risotto and it went along marvelously, complementing the fish and the rice creaminess and contrasting with the lemon acidity.
