Unusual but very worthwhile red from the Douro, this has a really clear, open, expansive nose filled with red cherries, not overly sweet, in a background of vanilla, toast and some coffee. Very fresh and inviting.
Tasting it, one finds a full-bodied wine, but where the tannins are very balanced and not at all hard. It shows a good acidity and dryness, lots of red fruits very well integrated with the oak and finishes in a really pleasant fashion, leaving an aftertaste of acid red fruits.
Very ready to drink right now, it should be able to last for a couple more years. Worth checking out as the price/quality ratio is really good.
