Coming from the north of Alentejo, this is the premium brand from Terras de Alter. And a refreshing surprise it is, showcasing a very modern and distinct approach that will certainly help it stand out.
Deep dark ruby, the nose is filled with black sweet berries and a lot of spices - cardamom and cloves for me. Also, the impression of oak very well integrated with the rest of the bouquet, composing an intense and concentrated nose.
Full-bodied, intense and concentrated in the mouth, with a great structure and balanced acidity. Tannins still showing and helping give the wine yet more structure, the taste show a lot of black fruit and ends in a very long finale, leaving impressions of cocoa and cardamom that linger for a long time.
Very impressive. Track it down. It's worth the admission price (around 25 euros).
Strong, heavier dishes. Roasted meats, game or stews. The wine's strength needs to be matched.
