Region: Vale de São Francisco
Country: Brazil
This is a brazilian wine produced by a portuguese company, Dão Sul, that has a really nice portfolio in portuguese wines. They expanded to Brazil some years ago and this is their top brand.
The bouquet gives us a lot of red fruit, along with some sweeter, jam-like impressions. Toast notes in the background and even more to the background a slight animal, leathery touch.
The taste is a bit disappointing, as the wine feels "green", meaning that it seems it has (still?) not come together. The fruit is too much in the background, tannins are a bit imposing and I think the ending is a bit too alcoholic.
It is not a bad wine, but for a premium brand I think it should be better. But it's a wine from a new region, made from grapes from new vines so newer vintages will be getting better - the people at Dão Sul have already proven that they can make outstanding wines, so it's just a matter of time.
