Tasted last sunday at a tasting fair for Port and Douro wines in Lisbon, this was quite a surprise from an unknown - for me - producer.
Straw coloured, the nose has citrus and tropical fruit notes, along with some marmelade - although not overly sweet - and in the background some faint oak notes, maybe some vanilla and butter.
The taste is very balanced, as the wine has a very nice structure, with some weight and creaminess given by the oak. This is compensated by a really crisp acidity and some really nice, discrete fruit. Above all, a very serious, discrete taste finishing with a really long persistence.
For the price tag on this - below 10€ - this is an absolute steal. The producer told me that the 2010 vintage will be different but you should really track this one down.
