Having tasted the red version of this a couple of years ago, I remember not being very impressed and feeling the price tag as a bit too high for the wine. Bearing that in mind, I approached this with some caution. Happily, I was in for a real treat.
White and tropical fruits on the nose, along with a fresh citrus feel, a strong mineral (wet stones) backbone and some oaky notes harmoniously mixed into the set, this has a very nice bouquet, elegant and multi layered.
Very good on the mouth as well, strongly structured, where the oak notes are very well integrated with a strong mineral drive. Very nice acidity keeps it from becoming too heavy. Dry on the finish, keeping up the mineral notes but adding some citrus - lemons - and even a spicier, peppery feel, this has a very long aftertaste that lasts for a long time.
Impressive white that is probably capable of growing for some years. Makes me want to taste the red again.
Tried it with a cured, intensively flavored cheese and it worked out great. It probably matches up with heavier foods.
