This has been a favorite of mine since I discovered it in a nice restaurant outside of Pinhão, in the Douro. A serious, complex white from the Douro, it starts by filling the nose with oak notes, dried fruits and some vanilla. Later on, it opens some mineral scents. Tasting it, it's a complex, heavy wine clearly showing that it has been staged in oak barrels. Nevertheless, this weight is nicely countered by a clear acidity and a dry finish. A really nice white from the Douro.
It calls for some heavier dishes. I paired it a couple of times with a porcinni risotto and I think it worked quite well. Also good with a baked salmon or similar fish (maybe a tuna based dish).
