Another great red from the Douro, this wine from the 2004 vintage starts by showing off an intense flower and black fruits aroma, later developing some cocoa, mint and pepper notes. The taste does not fall behind the nose, since the wine shows a great balance and structure. The tannins are still present but tamed, the oak is well integrated with the fruit and the finish is extremely long, leaving an aftertaste of flowers and oak (and some greener notes in the background). A great Douro, still with some years ahead of it. I would decant it about an hour before drinking, since it shows a clear evolution in this time.
Definitely, game or red meat will be the perfect companions for this wine.
