Region: Alentejo
Country: Portugal
Very dark in color, this is a different wine from the typical Alentejo. The nose is mainly composed by oak notes, a strong overwhelming vanilla scent obscuring a black fruit background.
The taste follows the same path, very focused on vanilla and oak notes. On one hand, it feels very closed and young. On the other, I did not feel the tannin structure and acidity I would expect from a untamed, young wine that needs to sleep for a while before reaching its full potential.
But I would definitely wait for it a couple of years more. The oak needs more time to tame and to integrate with the rest of the wine. I would like to reevaluate it two years from now and see how it has evolved.
