Region: Alentejo
Country: Portugal
Light golden to the eye, this Alentejo white has a nice, if somewhat low profile bouquet where some vegetable and flower notes mingle with oak/smoke notes.
The oak is much more noticeable in the palate, where the wine's unctuosity is remarkable although it is very well balanced by a fresh acidity and citrus notes that lift it. There's a lot more fruit in the palate than in the nose, giving this some interesting layers of complexity. Good, long ending with a dry, bitter bite to it.
This is a very interesting winter white, with a lot of weight from the oak but managing to keep an interesting fruit/citrus layer that gives it an added interest.
