Region: Dão
Country: Portugal
Somewhat hidden in the nose at first, the nose has ripe red fruits, some oak notes, that later turn into chocolate and coffee and some flowers - rockroses and violets.
At first taste, a slightly "green" feeling, with some spiky tannins. But, given some time in the glass, it comes along as a balanced, elegant wine. Tannins are definitely there, although controlled, great acidity - usual in the Dão - mingles with some nice wild berries and a good finish that reveals once again very lively tannins.
Very good for its price range (around 6 to 8 €), it seems to have quite some life on it. I would not be surprised if this was able to age gracefully for some long years.
