Quinta de Alcube Reserva 2008

16.0 / 20
Producer: Quinta de Alcube
Region: Setúbal
Country: Portugal

Dark ruby to the eye, this reserva from Quinta de Alcube - in Azeitão, Setúbal - has a somewhat closed nose, showing some vanilla notes along with some sweet dark fruits.

The palate follows the same pattern of the nose, revealing almost nothing to the taster, merely letting him glimpse a dash of sweet black fruits here, vanilla and elegant toast over there. Overall, the wine feels very young, something that is reinforced by some still very hard tannins and a vibrant acidity. The oak clearly needs time to settle in and integrate itself with the fruit.

It certainly promises, but if you want to taste it right now, decant it for at least a couple of hours. Alternatively, wait a couple of years before opening this one.
