Arroio da Vinha Grande Escolha 2006

16.0 / 20
Producer: Caves do Salgueiral
Region: Douro
Country: Portugal

Ruby coloured, the bouquet is dominated by flowers, aided by a toasty feel and, in the background, some black berries. Over time, the oak tends to dominate the whole thing, but the set keeps together nicely coming across as very balanced.

In the mouth, it's a very balanced wine. Wood integrated with the fruit, tamed, velvety tannins and controlled acidity make for a well adjusted, food-friendly taste.

For its price tag (around 8€ in Portugal), it's a good choice for an everyday wine.
